About: Oddbird is a pioneer in the non-alcoholic wine industry, renowned for its meticulous process that results in wines with complex and authentic flavor profiles, despite the absence of alcohol. Founded by Moa Gürbüzer in Sweden, Oddbird stands out in a market where many non-alcoholic options fall short in taste and sophistication.
Oddbird employs a unique technique of gently removing alcohol from traditionally fermented wines, preserving the nuances of the original flavors and aromas. This dedication to quality has allowed Oddbird to produce non-alcoholic wines that rival their alcoholic counterparts in terms of depth and character, offering a truly elevated drinking experience for those who prefer or require alcohol-free options.
Moa Gürbüzer, a trained social worker, believes that social enjoyment and sophisticated dining experiences should not be compromised by the absence of alcohol. A former social worker, Gürbüzer witnessed firsthand the negative impacts of alcohol consumption on individuals and communities. Driven by a desire to promote healthier lifestyles without sacrificing the pleasure of a fine glass of wine, she embarked on a mission to create non-alcoholic wines that could stand proudly beside their alcoholic equivalents. Her vision is to redefine social norms around drinking, offering inclusive, high-quality alternatives that celebrate the art of winemaking and the joy of shared experiences, all while fostering a culture of mindfulness and well-being.
Moa and her son, a trained chemist, worked with other chemists and oenologists for over a year to determine how to de-alcoholize wine while maintaining its flavor. Recognizing the importance of taste for the product's success, they started in Languedoc, famed for its fruity wines, and engaged a research center in Alsace along with experts from universities in Bourgogne, Sweden, and Spain. Gradually, her brainchild of Oddbird took shape, aiming to redefine social norms around drinking by offering inclusive, high-quality alternatives that celebrate the art of winemaking and the joy of shared experiences, all while fostering a culture of mindfulness and well-being.
