2019 Chateau de Macard Bordeaux Superieur

  1. The 2023 Chateau La Caussade Bordeaux Blanc is a crisp and mineral-driven white from Bordeaux. Its notes of citrus, fresh apricot, and balanced, zesty palate make it wonderfully versatile, ideal for pairing with seafood (like crab cakes, sushi, and white fish), poultry, and light dishes.
  2. The 2022 Les Petites Sardines Muscadet Sèvre et Maine Sur Lie is lively, refreshing, and bone dry. From the Loire Valley's Atlantic coast, this charming white shows off flavors of lemon zest, green melon, and a signature saline finish. Seafood dishes like moules marinières with frites, oysters, and scallops are wonderful pairing partners. In addition, serving this alongside fresh produce, salad, goats milk cheese, appetizers or as an aperitif make for the beginning of a good night.
  3. 2022 Ventenac 'Préjugés' Vin de France Chardonnay rounds out the white wine selection in this six-bottle package with style and charisma. If you have reservations about the varietal, we promise this Chardonnay carries none of the "buttery, oaky, heavy" characteristics that's turned many off to the grape.

“A modern chardonnay from Languedoc aged in barrels. Who would have thought it, the wood is so discreet! Aromatic, chiseled and terribly fresh…”

“Light floral aromas and a meet up of honeydew melon, baked pear and honey flavors on the palate. This is a rich and creamy wine without being too full bodied, helped by a vibrant acid balance.” —Wine Enthusiast, 91 points (December 2023)

  4. On to the reds! 2020 Famille Bruno Lafon Le Fruit Défendu Rouge showcases sun-kissed, fresh red and black fruits. Imagine a light-bodied Côtes-du-Rhône rouge with a dash of Mediterranean herbs that calls for a slight chill and hopes for sunny days. A friendly blend of Cinsault, Grenache, and Syrah, this charmer pairs with anything from pizza and pasta to salmon and picnic fare.
  5. For a taste of wines from the actual Southern Rhône, we’ve included the 2021 Vignerons d'Estezargues Cuvee des Galets Cotes du Rhone Rouge. This popular red offers raspberries, black berries, and plum skin with a touch of herbs, violet and a pleasant hint of baking spice. Its light to medium body and smooth tannins make it a great companion for grilled meats, sheet-pan, roasted, or grilled vegetables, or even an eggplant parmesan.
  6. Last, but not least, the 2019 Chateau de Macard Bordeaux Superieur brings the elegance of the 2019 vintage alongside dark fruits—blackcurrants, juicy plums, and black cherries—intertwined with earthy complexity. Notes of graphite, crushed gravel, and forest floor meet subtle oak-driven aromas like toasted cedar, and cocoa that blend with spices like star anise, black pepper, and clove. Pair this with grilled meats, homemade burgers, weekend grilling or weeknight takeout.
