- Country: France
- Region: Burgundy (Bourgogne)
- Varietal: Chardonnay
- Wine Style: White
Taste: Pale straw in color, the wine opens with aromas of white flowers, lemon zest, and green apple, accented by hints of wet stone and almond skin. On the palate, it shows medium body and crisp tension, carrying flavors of pear, citrus, and a touch of honeysuckle. The texture is lightly rounded from time on fine lees, giving a gentle creaminess that balances the mineral cut. The finish is precise and refreshing, with lingering notes of chalk, citrus peel, and orchard fruit.
Pairing: This Bourgogne Côte d’Or Blanc pairs best with dishes that emphasize freshness, delicate proteins, and subtle herbal accents. General considerations: avoid heavy cream sauces, look for citrus or herb-driven preparations, and let the wine’s acidity and minerality provide lift.
About. Domaine Paul Pernot et Ses Fils is based in Puligny-Montrachet, one of Burgundy’s most renowned villages for Chardonnay. The estate traces its beginnings to the mid-20th century. However, sources differ on the precise year—records suggest Paul Pernot began acquiring vineyard parcels around 1955, with formal establishment of the domaine noted as either 1955 or 1959. What is clear is that over the following decades, the family steadily expanded its holdings to include some of the village’s most prized sites, including plots in Premier Cru and Grand Cru vineyards.
Today the domaine farms close to 23 hectares, with an emphasis on Chardonnay across Puligny-Montrachet and adjoining appellations. Their holdings include enviable parcels in Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet, Bâtard-Montrachet, and Chevalier-Montrachet, as well as key Premier Crus like Les Pucelles, Clos de la Garenne, and Les Folatières. These sites sit on classic Puligny terroir of thin, stony soils over limestone, producing wines of tension, lift, and refined mineral character.
