Description
From: Corsini, Monforte d'Alba, Piedmonte, Italy
Varietal: Barbera
Taste: The glass is a deep ruby with violet reflections. The nose is layered with ripe blackberry, dark cherry, and plum, interwoven with sweet spice, cocoa, and balsamic notes. It is full-bodied and structured on the palate, with vibrant acidity and velvety tannins supporting a core of juicy dark fruit. Subtle hints of vanilla and toasted oak emerge on the finish, adding depth and elegance.
Pairing: The balance of acidity, fruit, and structure makes 'Armujan' an excellent match for rich, flavorful dishes. Traditional Piedmontese pairings include braised beef with polenta or agnolotti del plin with butter and sage, highlighting the wine’s depth while complementing its natural acidity. Its bright fruit and spice also pair well with roast pork loin, rosemary, and garlic, where acidity cuts through the meat's richness.
About: Podere Ruggeri Corsini, established in 1995 by agronomists and oenologists Loredana Addari and Nicola Argamante, is situated in the hamlet of Corsini in Monforte d'Alba, Italy. The couple left their academic careers to focus on winemaking in the Langhe region. Today, while Loredana and Nicola remain actively involved in the winery, their daughters, Francesca and Vittoria Argamante, now manage the entire operation. Francesca oversees winemaking, while Vittoria handles operations. Both are actively engaged in vineyard management, where their mother continues to offer guidance. Their father, Nicola, plays a key role in the cellar, particularly when the sisters travel for marketing and brand expansion.
