From: Rioja, Spain
Varietal: Tempranillo Blanco
Taste: In the glass reveals a pale golden hue, immediately suggesting vibrancy and clarity. On the nose, aromas of ripe stone fruits, notably peach, blend harmoniously with zesty citrus notes, which lend brightness and lift. A hint of tropical fruit rounds out the bouquet, adding depth and a touch of exotic intrigue. As the wine touches the palate, it offers a silky, refined texture that balances beautifully with its fresh acidity. The initial taste is bright, with citrus undertones that enhance its lively character, while flavors of peach and subtle tropical fruits provide a well-rounded and layered mouthfeel. The wine’s structure is impressive for a white, demonstrating a delicate balance between fruit and acidity, and it finishes long, leaving a refreshing, satisfying aftertaste.
Pairing: For a Spanish-inspired experience, consider Gambas al Ajillo (garlic shrimp), where the wine’s citrus undertones complement the garlicky richness of the dish, or enjoy it with Pulpo a la Gallega (Galician-style octopus); the wine’s freshness cuts through the olive oil and paprika, enhancing each bite. A plate of Bacalao a la Vizcaína (Basque-style cod with tomato and pepper sauce) would also be excellent, as the wine’s acidity balances the savory and slightly sweet flavors of the sauce.
