Description
From: Neive, Piedmont, Italy
Varietal: Arneis
Taste: Pale straw yellow in the glass, this opens with bright white peach, pear, and acacia blossom aromas, accompanied by subtle notes of almond and wet stone. On the palate, it is medium-bodied with a vibrant, citrus-driven core. Green apple, Meyer lemon, and ripe melon are complemented by a touch of salinity and a slightly waxy texture. The finish is crisp and mineral-laden, with a refreshing persistence.
Pairing: Roero Arneis’ bright acidity and delicate fruit profile make it a versatile pairing wine, particularly suited to seafood, fresh herbs, and light pasta dishes. It pairs naturally with grilled branzino featuring lemon and fennel, where the wine’s crispness complements the fish’s delicate flavors. Risotto alle erbe, prepared with soft herbs like tarragon and chives, enhances Arneis' floral notes, while asparagus with soft-boiled eggs and hazelnuts mirrors its nutty undertones.
About: Giacosa Fratelli began in the late 19th century with four brothers—Leone, Giovanni Battista, Costantino, and Giuseppe—who left their home in Costigliole d’Asti for Neive, a village that became synonymous with their winemaking legacy. Their paths diverged dramatically: Leone met a tragic fate in a hunting accident, Giovanni Battista pursued the priesthood, and Costantino built a different legacy through his son Dante, who went on to design the Fiat Cinquecento. However, it was Giuseppe who followed his passion for the land, determined to create wine from the hills he adored.
