Description
From: Montbrison-sur-Lez, Rhone Valley, France
Varietal: Grenache
Taste: A deep ruby-red in the glass. The nose is lively, offering aromas of ripe red cherries, wild strawberries, and fresh raspberries, underscored by delicate floral tones and a whisper of garrigue. The wine is fresh and medium-bodied on the palate, with bright acidity framing juicy red fruit flavors. A subtle earthiness emerges alongside a soft, supple tannic structure, leading to a smooth and energetic finish.
Pairing: The wine’s bright fruit and herbal nuances align beautifully with herb-roasted chicken or lamb chops grilled with rosemary and thyme. A classic ratatouille brings out the wine’s Mediterranean character, while slow-cooked lentils with garlic and bay leaf provide an earthy counterpoint.
About: Domaine Gramenon is situated in Montbrison-sur-Lez, a small commune in the southern Rhône Valley. Established in 1979 by Philippe and Michèle Laurent, the estate arose from a desire to create wines authentically reflect the region’s terroir. Tragically, Philippe passed away in 1999 due to an accident, leaving Michèle to manage the estate and raise their three children.
