From: Chassagne-Montrachet, Burgundy, France
Varietal: Pinot Noir
Taste & Critical Acclaim: “The 2019 Santenay Les Hates Rouge has turned out nicely, offering up aromas of wild berries, pencil shavings and dark chocolate, followed by a medium to full-bodied, supple and fleshy palate that's seamless and velvety, with a charming, generous profile and a nicely defined finish. It's a fine effort.” Robert Parker, 90 Points
Pairing: It shines alongside seared salmon or tuna steaks, enhancing the umami richness of the fish. It also complements Mediterranean-inspired dishes like roasted vegetable tart or ratatouille, where the wine’s freshness lifts the sweet and savory flavors of the vegetables. Traditional French dishes like canard à l'orange (duck with orange sauce) or cassoulet (a slow-cooked bean and meat stew) provide exceptional pairings, harmonizing with the wine’s complexity and structure. Try a hearty vegetarian option with a wild rice and mushroom casserole. As for cheese, opt for a creamy brie or mild goat cheese to balance its vibrant fruit and subtle spice notes.
