Taste & Critical Acclaim: In the glass, this shows a deep ruby hue with garnet reflections. The nose leads with a blend of ripe red cherries and forest berries, layered against polished notes of sandalwood, incense, florals, and dried herbs. Balsamic undertones, bitter orange peel, and a hint of black tea and baking spice. On the palate, the wine is firmly structured yet supple, with a mid-palate richness that carries flavors of dark plum, cacao, and vanilla. Fine-grained tannins support a long, persistent finish edged with chocolate, dried thyme, and a light char note from oak aging.

“The nose starts in your grandmother's living room, with perfumed aromas of flowers, baking spices, vanilla and candied cherries, before vegetal notes of bell pepper and herbs waft in from her garden. On the palate, these savory notes slowly crescendo into a vibrant, spicy, acidic finish.” — 94 Points,  Danielle Callegari, Wine Enthusiast

“Boasts black cherry, plum, blackberry and thyme flavors wrapped in toasty oak, making this red distinctive and modern. Though polished, there are also dusty tannins and vivid acidity lending support. Fine balance and length. Best from 2023 through 2037.”– 93 Points, Bruce Sanderson, Wine Spectator

“Super-classic Chianti Classico with typical aromas of black cherries, intense roses and violets, plus leaves, licorice and a touch of earthy minerality. Bone-dry style with a medium body, velvety tannins and crisp acidity. Intoxicating flower flavors and a chalky yet juicy finish.”– 93 Points, James Suckling

Pairing: The structure and depth of La Forra make it well-suited to dishes that highlight rich textures and savory complexity. Sangiovese’s acidity allows it to cut through fat, while its earth-driven and herbal undertones amplify dishes with roasted garlic, mushrooms, and herbs. Begin with tomato-braised meats or long-simmered ragù over pappardelle.

About: Tenuta di Nozzole is located in Greve in Chianti, at the northern edge of the Chianti Classico zone. The property is a historic Tuscan estate that dates back to the 13th century, although its modern chapter began in 1971 when Nino Folonari purchased it as part of his push toward producing high-quality estate wines. It now forms one of the flagship holdings of Ambrogio e Giovanni Folonari Tenute, a family-owned group that specializes in high-end, site-specific wines from across Tuscany. Today, Giovanni Folonari leads the estate, continuing the line of winemaking history that spans eight generations and two full centuries of Italian history.
