Description

From: Chateauneuf-du-Pape, Rhone Valley, France
Varietal: Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, and Cinsault

Taste: The wine shows a translucent ruby hue with garnet reflections in the glass. Aromatically, it opens with lifted notes of wild strawberry, raspberry compote, and red cherry, interwoven with hints of crushed herbs, white pepper, dried rose petals, and garrigue. The wine is supple and medium-bodied on the palate, with fine-grained tannins and a refreshing line of acidity. The fruit is bright and red-toned, with layers of blood orange, thyme, and subtle savory undertones that build with air. The finish is graceful and persistent, marked by lingering spice, floral lift, and mineral tension.

Pairing: This cuvée’s finesse and lifted profile make it exceptionally versatile at the table. Its moderate structure and vivid red fruit complement dishes with herbal accents, acidity, or lightly charred components. Classic southern French fare like grilled lamb chops with rosemary or ratatouille with fresh thyme will highlight the wine’s savory notes and textural poise.

About: Château de la Font du Loup is located in the commune of Courthézon, just northeast of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, within the southern Rhône Valley. The estate’s name,“Fountain of the Wolf,” is drawn from a natural spring on the property and a local legend that wolves once came here to drink. It is one of the oldest domaines in the region and occupies a uniquely cool microclimate thanks to its higher elevation and proximity to the Mont Ventoux winds. The estate’s vineyards, many of which are planted at over 120 meters in elevation, benefit from consistent breezes and cool nights—factors that contribute to the elegance and freshness found in their wines.
