Description

From: Marsala, Sicily, Italy
Varietal: Nerello Mascalese

Taste: This wine shows red fruit aromas of ripe cherry, wild strawberry, and red currant, with subtle floral notes, earthy undertones of crushed rock, and hints of aromatic herbs, notes of tobacco, black tea, and warm spices. On the palate, it is notable for its vibrant acidity and pronounced minerality, carrying a fine, dusty tannin. The finish lingers with a balance of red fruit, savory spice, and a touch of smoke.

Pairing: A classic match is Pasta alla Norma, where fried eggplant, tomatoes, basil, and ricotta salata highlight the wine’s freshness while softening its tannins with the creamy, salty cheese. Grilled swordfish with capers and olives works equally well, as the briny elements enhance the wine’s mineral backbone and bright red fruit flavors.

About: Flavia Rebellious Wines, located in Marsala, Sicily, upholds a winemaking tradition that dates back to 1860. The Rallo family's legacy began when Francesco Rallo planted his first vineyards in the Baiata district. His son, Giacomo, and later Francesco Rallo, continued to build on his vision, developing the modern identity and philosophy we see today.

Now led by siblings Flavia and Giacomo Rallo, the fourth generation of the family, the winery remains devoted to producing wines that are closely tied to Sicily. Their approach combines organic farming with minimal intervention methods, allowing the natural traits of the grapes to stand out. Their viticultural tradition has strengthened its commitment to sustainability, ensuring that future generations can keep crafting wines with a deep respect for their environment.
