Tasting Notes: Pierre Morey Bourgogne Chardonnay 2018 is a creamy white wine with aromas of yellow fruit, herbal notes and hints of toast and sweet spices. On the palate it is fresh, elegant and very well balanced. A broad and well-rounded wine with a salty and mineral finish.
Pierre Morey Bourgogne Chardonnay is an organic, barrel-aged white wine made by Pierre Morey with the Chardonnay variety in the AOC Bourgogne, in Burgundy (France).
Pierre Morey is the latest generation of a Burgundy winemaking family that has been making wine in the prestigious Chassagne-Montrachet region since the 16th century and in Meursault since 1793. Pierre was a winemaker at Domaine Leflaive from 1988 to 2008 and now cultivates 11 hectares of vineyards in terroirs that offer impressive purity, minerality and longevity in every wine.
Pierre Morey Bourgogne Chardonnay comes from vineyards in Meursault. This is a 1.76 ha vineyard planted with vines over 30 years old in fairly deep clay and chalk soils. Ecological agriculture is used, along with biodynamic treatments instead of chemical products.
When the Pierre Morey Bourgogne Chardonnay grapes have been manually harvested, they go through an pneumatic press and the must is left to rest in a stainless steel tank for 12 to 24 hours. Fermentation takes place in oak barrels with native yeasts. Then bâtonnage begins and the wine ages for 16 to 20 months.
Made by one of the best white wine makers, Pierre Morey Bourgogne Chardonnay is a first class Chardonnay. An exceptional Burgundy that is creamy, well structured and very mineral.
