For the classic Beaujolais lover! Morgon is one of the ten Beaujolais crus that's universally loved because it has such friendly, round edges and a Pinot-like charm.
From: Beaujolais, France
Varietal: Gamay
Tasting Notes: There is a bountifully expressive, gorgeous perfume to Morgon Beaujolais, and this is no exception. Spice, strawberries, hints at evergreen pour from the glass and fill the room with their beautiful scents. The palate is full and rounded, with downright pound-able drinking going on here, but also sporting Beaujolais’s characteristic snap and vigor.
“This wine is structured, as befits a bottling from this iconic, granite-based vineyard. With firm tannins partnering the black-cherry fruit, the wine has good potential. Drink from 2022.” –Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast, 90 points
Pairing: Light, easy, and supple, it pairs with everything from sushi (yes, really!) to fire-roasted steak from Birch. Some of our favorite Beaujolais pairings are Asian dishes, such as Mongolian Beef, Peking duck with its crispy skin, wrapped in Mandarin pancakes, or tea-smoked chicken. For vegetarian options, think crispy tofu with pickled vegetables.
