From: Columbia Valley, Washington, USA
Varietal: Counoise
Tasting Notes: This easy-drinking, whimsical pét-nat is guaranteed to be a new favorite. Sonder successfully highlights a lesser-known grape varietal called Counoise in this playfully labeled, dry sparkling rosé—beautifully balanced aromas and flavors of wild strawberry, red cherry, and raspberry meet lithe and darker-hued notes of freshly picked blueberries and violet buoyed by aniseed, fennel, and a hint of allspice. Fresh, flavorful, and zesty, its pétillant fizz gives off all the good-times vibes.
Pairing: The 2023 Wonder Pet-Cat Pétillant Naturel Rosé will pair wonderfully with a variety of easy snacks you can pull out on a picnic or afternoon hang with friends: think salty chips/crackers with dip and cured meats. If you’re firing up the grill, you can opt for anything from ribs to burgers to grilled summer veggies—the following recipe for summer corn and chickpea salad is a fantastic light, fresh option.

About. Established in 2016 by Riley Miller, Sonder focuses on making minimal intervention wines from Washington State. Their ethos is centered around creating fun, energetic, hand crafted wines while working with some of the best grape growers in the state, and their winemaking approach is simple: shepherd the grapes from the vineyard to the bottle. The resulting wines are the wines they love to drink: bright, playful, juicy and, most importantly, delicious.
“There is something about the long days in the vineyard and winery that speak to me. Maybe it was my mother’s constant nagging to do yardwork, maybe it was my lack of desire to sit under artificial lighting that drove me down this path.
Winemaking is incredibly rewarding. Each year is a curveball, from droughts, to frosts, to pandemics. There is a certain sense of rolling with the punches, putting in your best efforts while taking what the universe gives you that I love. This chaos shapes us, and I try my best to reflect that in each and every wine I make.” —Riley Miller
