"The 2017 Meursault “Blagny” is also a fine bottle in the making. The bouquet is deep and utterly classic, offering up scents of apple, pear, hazelnut, a lovely base of soil tones, vanillin oak and a fine floral topnote gently reminiscent of geraniums. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and rock solid at the core, with fine focus and grip, impressive cut and soil signature and a long, powerful and complex finish. Blagny is never one of the more delicate premier crus in style, but always a good, sturdy example of Meursault and this is certainly the case with this fine bottle from Antoine Jobard in 2017. (Drink between 2023-2050) 92+ points" (12/2018)

"A ripe and distinctly smoky nose features notes of both white and yellow orchard fruit that flirts with hints of the exotic. There is more volume if less evident minerality to the attractively textured medium-bodied flavors that coat the palate with dry extract that also serves to buffer the moderately firm citrus-tinged acid spine shaping the lingering finish. This needs to develop more depth but the aging curve appears be sufficiently long to permit that to occur. Drink 2025+"(6/2019)

"The 2017 Meursault Blagny 1er Cru has turned out well, unfurling to reveal aromas of crisp yellow apple, citrus oil and fresh peach mingled with hints of white flowers and clear honey. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, textural and enveloping, with a charming core of fruit that cloaks its succulent acids. This has fleshed out since I tasted it in barrel, yet it remains an unusually precocious, open-knit rendition of this cuvée (which debuted in 1974). When I tasted these wines from barrel last year, I wrote that Antoine Jobard's incisive but concentrated style was a perfect match for the 2017 vintage, and that contention was resoundingly confirmed by their performance in bottle. "Smoky grapefruit aroma. This seems a little more rounded and less intense than the Tillets, still complex and intense but a little less smokily distinctive. But this might be the wine for you if you don't like too much struck match and want the same intensity. 17.5/20 points. Drink 2020-2027. (JH)" (1/2019)
