From: Chavanay, Rhone Valley, France
Varietal: Syrah
Taste: This Syrah boasts a deep ruby-purple hue in the glass, radiating youthful vibrancy. The aromas are enticingly fresh, offering a bouquet of ripe blackberries, cherries, and plums, complemented by floral hints of violets and a touch of black pepper. The palate reveals a medium-bodied, well-balanced profile, brimming with juicy red and black fruit flavors. These are accented by subtle spiciness and herbaceous notes. The tannins are silky and refined, while the vibrant acidity delivers a refreshing lift. The wine concludes with a mineral-driven finish, leaving lingering impressions of fruit and a delicate earthy spice.
Pairing: Classic options include grilled lamb chops or beef steaks, where the wine’s bright acidity and supple tannins balance the meat's richness. Herb-marinated roast chicken makes for an equally delightful pairing, with the wine’s fruit and spice notes complementing the savory herbs. For vegetarian options, dishes like eggplant Parmesan or mushroom-based preparations enhance the wine’s earthy undertones. A charcuterie board featuring salami, prosciutto, and aged cheeses perfectly matches Syrah’s vibrant fruit and subtle spice. Spiced lentil stews or pasta with tomato-based sauces create a satisfying synergy with the wine’s bright red and black fruit flavors for hearty meals. Additional options include Moroccan-spiced lamb meatballs, grilled Portobello mushrooms with balsamic glaze, or roasted pork tenderloin with a blackberry reduction.

About: Domaine Yves Cuilleron is situated in the northern Rhône Valley, France. The domaine has been producing exceptional wines since its establishment in 1920. Yves Cuilleron, who took over in 1987, has elevated it to new heights through a perfect blend of tradition and innovation.
Yves Cuilleron represents the third generation of the family to manage the domaine. Before his tenure, the winery was run by his uncle Antoine Cuilleron, who kept operations small and primarily local. Yves, with a background in mechanical engineering and a subsequent diploma from the École Supérieure d'Oenologie in Beaune, decided to expand the winery's scope and vision. He introduced modern winemaking techniques and embraced sustainable practices while honoring the essence of Rhône Valley traditions.
