From: Southern Rhône, France
Varietals: 30% Clairette, 30% Grenache blanc, 30% Roussanne, 10% Bourboulenc
Tasting Notes: Lovely, rounded aromas of crisp white peach, apricot skin, lemon-orange citrus, and fragrant apple blossom. Mouth-filling flavors of freshly-picked peach, brisk citrus, and a rocky-riverbed minerality reverberate on the palate, underscored by subtle Mediterranean herbs and a peach pit note that rounds out the refreshing finish.
Pairing: This versatile wine will taste great with anything from roasted poultry, to scallops, grilled fish, grilled summer veggies, Mezze platters with freshly made hummus and pita, avocado and chickpea sandwiches, or American Chinese chicken salad. We love the idea of enjoying it with Martha Rose Shulman’s simple Onion and Thyme Frittata recipe.
About. After completing his viticultural and winemaking studies at Beaune, Julien Mus returned to his family's estate in a town called Bédarrides, nestled between Orange, Avignon, and Carpentras. The Dentelles de Montmirail and Mont Ventoux are located to the east and the hills of Châteauneuf-du-Pape just to the west. The family’s grapes were always sold off to the local co-op until Julien founded Domaine de la Graveirette in 2005.
The domaine consists of four hectares of AOC Côtes du Rhône and six hectares of Vin de Pays-designated vineyards around the commune of Courthezon, to which Julien has added a small plot of AOC Châteauneuf-du-Pape, located between those of Font de Michelle and Vieux Télégraphe, near the south-eastern border of the appellation.
Julien has been working organically since 2012 and biodynamically since 2015. His wines are very pure, extractions are light, and vinification is done with minimal intervention not using any additives, exclusively in stainless or cement vats. All wines are therefore marked by their minerality, refreshing acidity, and purity.
The 2022 Ju de Vie Blanc is a blend of 30% Clairette, 30% Grenache blanc, 30% Roussanne, and 10% Bourboulenc grown on sandy soils with round pebbles in vineyards in and around Châteauneuf du Pape. The wine fermented and aged for 10 months in stainless steel tanks.
