From: Chiaramonte Gulfi, Sicily, Italy
Varietal: Nero d’Avola, Frappato
Tasting Notes: The Cerasuolo di Vittoria presents a medium ruby red color. Its elegant aromas reveal ripe fruits such as marasca cherry and Morello cherry, complemented by aromatic herbs including sage and eucalyptus, and a touch of spices. The palate is fresh and medium-bodied, with well-balanced medium tannins and a long, satisfying finish.
Pairing: It pairs beautifully with rich, flavorful meats such as grilled lamb chops seasoned with rosemary and garlic or a classic Sicilian meatball dish with a tomato and basil sauce. The wine's balanced tannins and fresh finish complement pasta dishes like tagliatelle with wild boar ragu or a hearty lasagna. For a lighter option, consider pairing it with roasted eggplant, peppers, and zucchini drizzled with olive oil and herbs, or a savory mushroom risotto.

About: Giovanni Gurrieri wines are based in Chiaramonte Gulfi, located in the province of Ragusa, Sicily. Born and raised amidst the agricultural and peasant heritage of their parents, Vincenzo and Graziella, siblings Giovanni and Angela embraced their roots in the scenic landscapes of Chiaramonte Gulfi, located in the province of Ragusa. For over fifty years, their parents cultivated grapes, a legacy that Giovanni and Angela would continue with a modern twist, producing grapes, wine, and oil in Sicily.
The dream of creating a Sicilian wine that embodies the essence of its birthplace began to take shape in 2010 with the first bottling of Gurrieri wines. Nestled in the fertile Val di Noto, within the area of Cerasuolo di Vittoria—the only Sicilian DOCG—the vineyards are set against the backdrop of the Iblei Mountains. Here, Giovanni embarked on a modern wine production journey, transforming the family's 3.2 hectares of land in Chiaramonte Gulfi and Mazzarrone and expanding by leasing an additional 3 hectares in Chiaramonte Gulfi.
