From: Loire Valley, France
Varietal: Sauvignon Blanc
Tasting Notes: Jean-Marie Reverdy’s 2022 “Charme de Loire” Sauvignon Blanc has a bright, elegant perfume showing flavors of ripe citrus, fresh apple, white peach, and whispers of tropical fruits. The palate introduces a delightful balance of these open fruit flavors, complemented by a zippy acidity and distinctive limestone-derived minerality.
Pairing: Fresh is the name of the game when it comes to this pairing. In terms of seafood, this wine would go beautifully with lightly-seasoned white fish such as cod, sea bass, snapper, sole, haddock, or halibut. For vegetables, lean into zucchini, corn, and green herbs such as parsley, basil, mint, tarragon, thyme, fennel, dill, and chives. Softer more briny and sour cheeses like Goat’s milk cheese, yogurt, and crème fraîche will also work wonders. Andy Baraghani’s recipe Bon Appetit recipe for No-Brainer Corn Salad brings together so many of these flavors, in a dish that is a perfect celebration of summer.
About. Handed down through several generations, this family estate is surrounded by vineyards and overlooks the famous village of Verdigny, one of Sancerre’s 14 villages. Its unique location offers stunning views of the famous Sancerre hill. Today Jean-Marie Reverdy manages the Villaudière estate with his wife, Catherine and their two sons, Guillaume and Baptiste.
“Wine has been in our family’s blood for eleven generations. We remain inspired by the same values: a hereditary attachment to the Loire Valley, an instinctive passion for the terroirs, an innate respect for people and work.”
