From: Muscadet Sèvre-et-Maine, Loire Valley, France
Varietal: Melon de Bourgogne
Taste: This wine is elegantly dressed in a light yellow color with pale yellow reflections. The nose offers fine and subtle aromas mixing notes of white flowers, gunflint, and candied lemon. On the palate, the attack is lively and rich with a refreshing saline finish that dances with lemon citrus notes.
“The first thing that comes to mind to define our Muscadet is the subtlety of the aromas offered by the Melon Blanc grape variety nourished by the soils of the furrow of Brittany and the oceanic climate.” –Vincent and Stephane Perraud
Pairing: This wine’s light body, lean presence, taught energy, and vibrant in acidity makes it the perfect accompaniment for fresh fish and bivalves. Consider Moules Frites, or scallops cooked in white wine and garlic, finished with Armagnac (Saint-Jacques à la Bretonne). If you’re not in the mood for seafood, something bright and fresh like a goats' cheese and arugula salad or even a lemon lentil soup would be delightful. We reccommend this Green Salad With Warm Goat Cheese (Salade de Chèvre Chaud) recipe by Ligaya Mishan.
