From: Adelaida District Paso Robles, CA
Varietal: Grenache
Taste & Critical Acclaim: A lovely garnet color. On the nose, luscious red cherry and wild strawberry fruit are given depth by a spicy brambly character and an exotic Chinese five-spice note. The mouth shows cassis, fresh cherry fruit, lively acids, and a finish of sweet red licorice, star anise, and Grenache's signature youthful tannins—a great wine demonstrating that intense flavors are possible without dark color. Drink any time in the next six to ten years. - Winemaker Notes
92-93 pt Vinous, July 2022
“Deep garnet. An expansive bouquet evokes ripe red fruits, succulent flowers and baking
spices, and a mineral nuance builds in the glass. Palate-caressing raspberry, cherry and
candied lavender flavors steadily deepen and turn sweeter with air. Blends power and
delicacy with a sure hand and finishes very long and lively, fine-grained tannins adding
gentle grip.”
Pairing: Pasta with meat sauces (check out the recipe below from the winery!), wood-fired pizzas, teriyaki beef or chicken, spicy sausages, braised short ribs, slow-cooked stews with a bit of spice like paprika or pimentón, slow-cooked recipes that incorporate herbs and spices like rosemary, pepper, and cinnamon, and alongside smoky or grilled meats.

About. Tablas Creek is a pioneer of California’s Rhône movement. Founded in 1989, it is the culmination of a friendship between two of the international wine community’s leading families dating back to 1967: the Perrin family of Château de Beaucastel and the Haas family of Vineyard Brands. After a four-year search, the partners chose Paso Robles, California, for its many similarities to the Southern Rhône. They began the lengthy process of importing vine cuttings, building a grapevine nursery, and creating an estate vineyard from the ground up. Today, the vineyards at Tablas Creek are proudly Biodynamic® and organic certified by Demeter USA.
This wine. The 2020 Grenache is Tablas Creek’s twelfth varietal bottling of the signature grape of the southern Rhone Valley. The wine shows the bright fruit and exuberant spice of the Grenache Noir grape from the 2020 vintage.
