Grupo Covinas is a leading winery in the Utiel-Requena Denominación de Origen (DO), holding over 41% of the total land under vine. They are a secondary cooperative established in Requena in the 1960s when the winegrowers of the 10 cooperatives in the region joined forces to harness their sales strength and optimize the market availability of their high quality wines. This wine is a selection of their best and oldest bush vine grapes. Harvested by hand and vinified separately before blending. Aged in casks of French and American oak for between 30 and 36 months until the desired complexity and character is achieved.
The wine is a blend of Bobal, Cabernet Sauvignon, Tempranillo, and Garnacha. It's complex, mature, elegant, and complex, but has subdued a bit due to its time in bottle. It lingers on the palate, and would be great with red meat, poultry, or lamb.
