2014 Baudry Chinon

Bernard Baudry originally rose to prominence in Chinon for producing precise, textured wine. He was a graduate of Lycée de Beaune, and grew his estate to a total of 25 hectares through both family parcels and purchased vineyards. His son, Matthieu now runs his estate. Matthieu has previously worked in both California and New Zealand, and had made wine with his father since 2000. Their style is full of rich, precise fruit picked at the perfect ripeness. They use clean vinification techniques with state of the art equipment to make purely textured Chinon.

The Cuvée Domaine is a blend of parcels from older vines approximately 30-35 years of age. The vines that make this wine are planted on alluvial gravel beds and hillside, clay soil vineyards. The Cuvée Domaine has a bigger structure than their entry level cuvée, Les Granges, and can be laid down for a bit before drinking or decanted before a meal.

Deep ruby color with rich smoky cherry aromas and supple core that picks up in the middle of the palate with moderate tannins. Cool red and black fruits with a textured mouthfeel and long finish. 100% Cabernet Franc.
