2021 Casale del Giglio Bellone Bianco Lazio IGP, Italy Apricot, mango, and pineapple beautifully balanced by layers of orange zest, sea spray, clean linen, mint, white flowers, almond, and white pepper followed by a grippy, mineral texture with stone fruit and orange zest. Fan of wines from varietals and places like Grillo (Sicilian grape that makes beachy whites) from Sicily, Pinot Grigio from Friuli, and balanced, fresh wines made from Viognier, Marsanne, Roussanne (either as a single-varietal wine or blend) white wines from France? You’ll love this wine.
2021 Casale del Giglio Satrico Lazio Bianco, Italy This blend of Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and Trebbiano is elegant and friendly, with bright notes of fresh herbs and citrus zest, crisp apple, and a kiss of stony minerality on the finish. The juicy acidity means it’s impossible not to go in for another sip and makes for a beautiful food wine. Suppose your white wine type includes wines like Roero Arneis, Erbaluce di Caluso, Chablis, Cheverny Blanc, Alsatian white wines, white wines from Alto Adige, Friuli, Slovenia, and Rías Baixas. In that case, you’ll find a new favorite here!
2021 Giovanni Gurrieri, Frappato The fruit is beautifully fragrant, with intense notes of bilberry, raspberry, a smidge of ripe cranberry, pomegranate, and aromatic floral tones with those spice and tea-leaf notes gently reigning in the fruit on both the palate and nose. On the palate it remains fresh among the sweet and fine tannins, and the acidity lifts the fruity character up, giving depth and complexity to a wine whose weight is as light as a feather. It’s so, so cheerful and fresh; we reach for this wine year round. Think of it as the Pinot Noir alternative for any occasion, and just as food friendly (though of course, it’s great on its own too).
2020 Casale del Giglio Cesanese Lazio Rosso IGP, Italy Intense aromas of marasca and bing cherry, typical of late varieties, sweet pomegranate, boysenberry, and black plum skin, followed by spicy notes of subtle white and black pepper, sweet spices, and violet. The mouthfeel is soft, extremely pleasant, and focused on those rich cherry and sweet pomegranate flavors with a smidge of savory notes that round out all that fruit alongside persistent, fine tannins and pronounced acidity. Perfect for enjoying a night in with a home-cooked (or take-out!) meal.
2021 Antonio Sanguineti Morellino di Scansano A medley of fruit, baking spice, and the terroir of Southern Tuscany equal a strong presence in the glass, offering up cherries, pomegranate, plum, spices, earth, savory herbs like thyme and marjoram, and florals like violet and peony. You’ll taste the wine's minerality from the Maremman soils, refreshing acidity, and a slightly rounded structure with an oceanic, saline-tinged finish. Generally, Morellino di Scansano is also less tannic than other Tuscan wines, with a more moderate body.
And you pick the sixth!
2020 Michele Reverdito Barbera d'Alba On the nose, the wine is rich with aromas of ripe black cherries, plums, and hints of black pepper. You’ll notice subtle layers of earthiness, leather, and baking spice as you dive deeper. The wine is medium-bodied on the palate, with a bright acidity that perfectly balances its fruit-forward character. The mouthfeel is smooth, with supple tannins contributing to its elegant structure. Flavors of blackberries, cherries, and licorice dominate, its finish lifted and lithe. This isn't necessarily a "porch pounder" kind of wine, but goodness gracious, it's easy to lose yourself in this lovely Barbera.

2021 Cantina del Pino Dolcetto d'Alba This charming Dolcetto d'Alba displays a bouquet of fresh summer fruit with notes of anise and freshly ground black pepper. Its refreshing acidity enhances those flavors of berries and hints of wild herbs, all underscored by a soft background of mineral finesse. Its tannins are silky, without any traces of stemminess or oak. These qualities give the wine a perfect dryness, allowing it to express a unique pomegranate fruit character. A full, rounded finish makes this wine an ideal companion to a number of dishes.

2021 Ca del Baio Bric Baio Langhe Nebbiolo Garnet red color with ruby hues; fragrant scent of dried flowers and geranium aroma, with light fruity notes reminiscent of raspberry; dry, warm, soft, slightly tannic, and highly drinkable flavor. A slightly cool serving temperature increases its pleasantness, and letting this wine slowly unfurl in the glass alongside our pairing below will be fantastic. PS This is a fantastic wine to cellar at an incredibly affordable price.
